Geology / Glaciology' discovery walk with the Bureau des Guides

Mineral walk: La Meije, glaciers, climate, for young and old, beginners and experts alike. Pebbles, rocks and landscapes tell the story of the mountain, while glaciers and moraines tell the story of climate, landscape and man.

On a lovely walk, we'll collect pebbles and stones that will tell us all about the Meije, the Romanche and the glaciers. How did these rocks get here? We'll eliminate the various hypotheses to find the transporters of our pebbles and cobbles...

What family are these rocks from, and how were they formed? We'll validate our hypotheses with fun little experiments, and play crystal games for young and old alike. We'll use comparisons with well-known natural objects to describe the context in which these rocks were formed.

As we reach the majestic scenery over the Lautaret glacier and the Aigle refuge, we'll observe the contact between these rocks in the landscape, and anecdotes about the cakes (yes, really!) will help us make hypotheses about the formation of the Meije...

Finally, the glacier's imprint on the landscape will tell us about climate change. And maybe we'll be lucky enough to find fossils and crystals?
