Ski touring from Villar d'Arène

On the southern side, there aren't so many options, but it is so beautiful! The charm of the village and the excellent local produce awaits your return, exhausted but happy! Villar d'Arène offers you a very practical start point, with 2 ski lifts, a tobogganing run (for a change of system) and 2 blue runs. The view over the glaciers is fabulous and the village has a welcoming, family atmosphere.

Ski mountaineering and touring involves risks and all skiers are responsible for their own safety. Make sure you follow ANENA guidelines:

> Discovery day route :
- L’Aiguillon (2091 m) + 450 m
This outing involves a fine, steady climb north-west for a 360° anthology at the top of the Aiguillon. This will boost your energy and give you ideas for your next outing: look around you, the summits, valleys and shining peaks will haunt your nights!

- Lac du Pontet (2000 m) + 350 m

> Getting supplies: Grocer's, hardware store and bars in Villar d'Arène.
> Accommodation: Gîtes, B&Bs and hotels.

Located at an altitude of 1500 m, La Grave, located at the foot of the Meije, has crossed the ages preserving its beauty. The village has justifiably been awarded the much coveted label as one of the 'most beautiful villages in France'. The surrounding scenery is euphoric. You raise your head and a myriad of shining glaciers and jagged peaks reach out to you.
For us ski-tourers, La Grave is a fabulous start point thanks to the Meije cable car that enables you to considerably reduce the walking times to routes each more magical than the last. With many summits of between 3000 and nearly 4000 m, this is of course high-Alpine territory. La Grave is our Chamonix… without the crowds!
