Aiguillon ridge

Discover the art of winter touring in one of our marked snowshoeing and ski touring routes, starting from Villar d'Arène. This route leads you to a viewpoint at 2095 meters, the Aiguillon Ridge.

 

This tour offers breathtaking views of the summits of the Ecrins range, such as Les Agneaux and La Meije but also the upper Romanche valley, the cliffs of the Emparis plateau and the Lautaret pass.

This is a level 2 route, meaning it can get quite technical on snowshoes.
You can access it freely. The route is marked with orange range poles but not secured. You are in a natural environment and you go at your own responsability. Make sure you bring your avalanche security kit (transceiver, shovel and probe) and check the weather forecast, the snow conditions and the avalanche risk report befor you set out. At the start of the hike you will find a DVA check point to make sure that your transceiver is on and functioning.

A group of local experts decide whether the route is open or closed, depending on snow conditions. For your own safety, please respect their decision.
