Freeride Week at La Grave - 32nd Derby de la Meije

Mythical end of season race with the best skiers and freeriders but also all the passionate and wacky of the planet. Solo racing or with a team, disguised or not, everyone can find a place during this great and fun event.

This now legendary race is an opportunity for around 700 competitors from over 20 countries to compete in the famous valleys of La Meije.

The principle of the race has remained the same since its creation: starting at 3550m altitude on the Dome de la Lauze, an obligatory passing at the 3200m Ruillans pass for an arrival gate below 2000m, depending on snow conditions.

Apart from these 3 points the choice of route is up to the racer and the race is almost entirely off-piste. Competitors can ride on skis, snowboard, telemark, monoski or with any other equipement that will slide on snow, in teams or individually.
A team must consist of at least 3 people with at least one girl and 3 different types of equipement. All riders, whether fast or slow, are welcome to participate in the race. The best will finsih in less than 7 min, the slowest ones might take 2 hours.

The Derby of La Meije is above all the big race on Friday but there is also many mountain workshops, a richly endowed tombola, plus music and concerts organised.
