The Arsine corrie via the Crevasses path

A long climb around the Combeynot massif for a full day's hike in search of the lakes in the Arsine glacial cirque.

From the car park below the Col du Lautaret, climb up to quickly reach a crossroads.

Fork right and leave the Laurichard path. Cross a footbridge and climb gradually uphill. The path crosses several streams and shrubby areas to lead to a more open area.
This leads to the L'Homme viewpoint. Shortly afterwards, go through and close a gate and descend the schistose and gullied slopes of the Crevasses path, taking care on this slippery terrain in wet weather.
Get to the Villar d'Arène mountain pasture and cross the GR 54 near the weather station. Shortly afterwards, leave the path on the right heading towards the refuge and continue up the Rif de la Planche valley to reach the Col d'Arsine on the GR 54.
This is the moment to leave the GR 54, on the right, to cross the large frontal moraine of the Arsine glacier. From this jut shaped by glacial movements, two large lakes at the foot of a cirque mark the end of the ascent (2455 m).
Return to the starting car park by the same route. On the way back, you can take a short alternative route via the Alpe de Villar d'Arèn and Chamoissière refuges.
